This is a miniature hand painted hydrocal cast of a clay scupture based on one of the ancient stone statues found in Monte Alto, Guatemala. Stands approximately 5 inches (12cm), and weighs a little over 3lbs (1.36kg).
Carved over two thousand years ago, several of the sculptures have strong magnetic properties. The Mesoamerican artisans had knowledge of magnetism, and carved the statues so that the magnetic forces were concentrated in the cheek and navel areas.
The statues are on display in La Democracia, Guatemala.
