I had a happy little accident when casting an Olmec head (San Lorenzo). Only the face came out, and I thought about how it might look as if it was embedded in the ground with grass and weeds.
I had a happy little accident when casting an Olmec head (San Lorenzo). Only the face came out, and I thought about how it might look as if it was embedded in the ground with grass and weeds.
These sculptures are based on skulls carved by artisans of the Aztec Empire. Measuring 4.5 inches (11.4cm) tall and weighing approximately 3lbs (1.36kg), each skull is a hand painted hydrostone cast of an original clay sculpture.
I make a bald head for the start of the new year. The 2022 New Year’s Bald Head is called Don’t Worry Be Happy
